Finnish manufacturer opens here

Vahterus Oy, a Finland-based manufacturer, has opened a U.S. subsidiary in Matthews and plans to set up production here within three years. The company makes welded plate heat exchangers primarily for the processing and chemical, refrigeration and energy industries. Vahterus Oy was founded in 1990 and created its Vahterus Americas division in January. It is working out of 700 square feet office space near the intersection of McKee and Weddington roads.

Innovative heat transfer solutions for refrigeration plants

Finnish firm, Vahterus is the inventor of the Plate & Shell Heat Exchanger (PSHE), an ideal product for refrigeration processes.
Vahterus Combined
The Vahterus Combined has been developed to reduce the dimensions of a traditional system with evaporator and separator and also minimize the refrigerant charge. It combines both evaporator and separator functions within one shell.

Energy Savings from Change to Ammonia Refrigeration

With the move to new modern premises, Eurafruit Local PTY (Ltd) changed their main refrigeration systems to an environmentally friendly ammonia secondary cooling system.

Vahterus landed in America 2.1.2012

On 15th September 2011, Vahterus Americas was registered in the state of North Carolina, USA. This wholly owned subsidiary of Vahterus Oy, will become operational on 1st January 2012, under my leadership, and will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina. It will initially be a Sales focused organisation, serving the Americas region, and will build upon the business base already established, which now accounts for almost 25% of Vahterus Oy annual turnover.

New plate size PSHE 6 used for the first time
A significant component for a new refrigeration range from Vahterus

A condenser and an evaporator-drop separator provided by Vahterus form a significant part of German company GEA Refrigeration Germany’s new refrigeration technology. Grasso BluAstrum chillers are only just about to enter the market but they have already won an important German refrigeration devices environmental prize.
At a gala held in early December, the representatives of GEA Refrigeration Germany, John Ritmann and Wolfgang Dietrich, accepted Vahterus’ 30,000th heat exchanger. It will be installed as a part of a large size Grasso BluAstrum chiller which will soon be producing cold water for a GEA customer.
The 1200 kW heat exchanger uses Vahterus’ new size PSHE 6 plate for the first time. GEARefrigeration Germany and Vahterus have been in close cooperation developing the new product range for almost three years.

Assembly Hall Extension 1.12.2011

At the beginning of December Vahterus celebrated the topping out of its new Kuuantaka Hall in Kalanti. An extension to the welding and assembly hall finished a few years ago, the new hall is 1400 m2 in area. The extension was needed as production increased. In the course of the coming spring, the functions of the welding and assembly hall will be fully reorganised and transferred to the new facilities. In conjunction with the topping out ceremony, Vahterus celebrated the handing over of heat exchanger No. 30,000 to the client as well as the inclusion of the new PSHE 6 plate size in the Vahterus product family.
