Vahterus Americas was established in Charlotte, North Carolina, on January 1, 2012 with the goal of expanding its business in the Americas, particularly within North America. Vahterus is the inventor and global leader in Plate & Shell Heat Exchanger technology, which is currently utilized across almost all industrial sectors. Currently, over 25% of Vahterus’ consolidated sales come from North America. By establishing a U.S. presence, the company now offers greater support to existing customers and brings the significant benefits of its technology to a wider audience.
Vahterus Oy, the parent company, was incorporated in 1990 and is based in Finland. The foundation of the Americas organization follows the establishment of Vahterus subsidiaries in the UK, Germany and China. Throughout the rest of the world, the company operates through distributor networks and has significant experience working on both local and global projects.
Over its 20-year history, Vahterus has installed over 32,000 heat exchangers around the world, and approximately 15% of these are within North America. Vahterus Americas thus has an excellent platform on which to build from its initial Charlotte base. Vahterus products differentiate themselves from those of competitors in many ways, but it is quality that has allowed Vahterus to stand out, develop and grow so rapidly throughout its history.
Within three years, Vahterus Americas plans to set up manufacturing operations in the Charlotte area. This will facilitate shorter lead times by sourcing local materials and eliminating freight time and costs in shipping from Europe, all of which gives customers in the Americas more viable options. The production of Vahterus equipment is welding-intensive, and Charlotte’s extensive training programs with the latest welding technologies were a fundamental consideration in the company’s location decision.
