Vahterus Oy wants to bear responsibility for the protection of the environment and be a forerunner in environmental issues. We take the environment into account in our actions and want to contribute to achieving the optimal result in sustainable development.

Our environmental efforts are based on the know-how and competence of all our employees, which we improve via different training schemes. We have also taken environmental issues into account comprehensively when designing our production premises. We have developed plate heat exchangers that are smaller in size than corresponding heat exchangers, which cuts down the use of environmentally hazardous substances at plants. The heat recovery capacity of our products is great, which also helps save energy. Instead of traditional refrigerants, such as glycol and freon, our company strives to use more environmentally friendly alternatives, carbon dioxide and ammonia. Our work for the environment has been recognised and was rewarded with the Environmental Act of 2005 award.

With policies regarding occupational health, work safety and the environment, Vahterus Group aims to prevent and manage health, safety and environment-related risks with regard to personnel and interest groups. All operations comply with laws concerning occupational health, work safety and the environment, and customers' special requirements are taken into account.

The company educates and supports its employees in all matters relating to health, safety and the environment in everyone’s respective duties. The goal is to ensure that everyone understands the effects of their own activity. Employees are responsible for maintaining their work capacity and everybody’s safety as well as the cleanliness, orderliness and security of the common working environment.

Vahterus has programmes that promote health and safety and cover the developmental needs of the workplace as well as the effects of different factors in the working environment. The company helps protect the environment by using and recycling materials effectively and reducing waste.

The structure of a Vahterus heat exchanger is safe for customers to handle. Because of this, the customer can develop safer and more effective processes and facilities of their own. By using the heat exchanger for heat recovery, for instance, energy use becomes more effective and the environmental impact diminishes.

Vahterus implements its health, safety and environmental policies at all company levels and in all operations according to the strategy defined by the management, operational plans and the principle of continuous improvement.
